Carrier (also known as Toshiba Carrier) is still the top HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) company and leading air conditioning brand. It is a successful air conditioning brand with a $13.5 billion turnover and 43,000 employees in 170 countries. Their competitors are mainly air conditioning brands of Japanese companies such as Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sanyo. But nowadays air conditioning brands such as LG and Samsung from South Korea are aggressive in making competitively priced unitary products. There are also more Chinese air conditioning brands on the market like GREE, Haier and Midea. They produce already over 50% of the world HVAC products.

Daikin Industries from Japan is the pioneer air conditioning brand in VRF or Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC air conditioning systems. The company called these systems VRV or Variable Refrigerant Volume and has been very successful in this area. This system vary the flow of refrigerant to the room/space that required cooling or heating depending on the demand. Electrolux was established as an air conditioning brand in the year 1900 and has grown to be a global leading air conditioning brand in home appliances and appliances for professionals. In the field of air conditioner for homes, it also offers ductless split inverter as well as non-inverter models.

LG is also a South Korean brand, just like Samsung, based in Seoul and was founded as an air conditioning brand in 1958. As an air conditioning brand, they offer a full range of products for homes and commercial buildings. Both inverters and non-inverters products are available from LG.
